Be Cautious of Unauthorized Publications and Misleading Commentary on Mathamnaya Mahanusasanam
We wish to alert all devotees, scholars, and followers of the Advaita Vedanta tradition to be vigilant and discerning when seeking resources related to Mathamnaya Mahanusasanam, a sacred and authoritative text attributed to Adi Shankaracharya.
It has come to our attention that an individual, self-styled as a “baba” named P.N. Mishra, has released a purported commentary on Mathamnaya Mahanusasanam that is unauthorized, self-styled, and not approved by any of the four authentic Shankaracharya Peethams—Dwaraka, Badari, Puri, or Sringeri. Such publications are misleading and may distort the traditional understanding of the Mathamnaya system and its profound teachings.
We strongly advise the public not to rely on unauthorized translations or interpretations of this sacred text. Those who wish to study Mathamnaya Mahanusasanam are encouraged to refer only to authentic, authoritative commentaries written or endorsed by the recognized Jagadguru Shankaracharyas of the four Peethams.
In particular, we recommend the following authentic sources:
- Brahmaleena Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sri Swaroopananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj of Badari and Dwaraka Peethams
- Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sri Nischalananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj of Puri Govardhan Peetham
- Swami Sri Govindananda Saraswati Ji
Let us all uphold the sanctity of Adi Shankaracharya’s legacy by preserving and studying only those texts and interpretations that bear the authority of the traditional sampradaya.
